What's Happening in Sarasota for April 2014?

With the snowbird season going into its last few weeks, many events are on the schedule in Sarasota. April tends to be a very busy month. Here are some of the upcoming events coming to the area.

Sarasota Film Festival - April 4th to April 13th

This annual event will bring all types of programs and over 200 films to the area. IT will take place at the Regal Cinemas Hollywood 20. Family-friendly movies, documentaries and many others will be shown.

28th Annual Run for the Turtles - April 5th

The 28th Annual Run for the Turtles will provides a 5K and a 1-mile race to support the sea turtle conservatory at Mote Marine Laboratory. The cost is $35 for adults and $25 for children.

Caribbean Parade & Festival - April 5th

Cocoanut Avenue will become the site of the Caribbean Parade & Festival from 11am to 1pm on Saturday, April 5th. This event provides plenty of fun for the entire family.

Pops Concert, Florida Winefest & Auction - April 10th

The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall will host this event as a part of the Florida Wine Fest Auction. Proceeds will benefit local children in need and the event will include a sit-down dinner, wine reception, hors d'oeurves, a concert and more.

5th Annual Suncoast BBQ & Bluegrass Bash - April 18th

The Venice Municipal Airport will host the 2014 Florida BBQ State Championships. This is the largest BBQ contest in the state and will provide plenty of great food and fun. The Boxcars and Balsam Range will take the stage as many of the top BBQ chefs cook amazing dishes available for sampling.

36th Annual Siesta Fiesta - April 26th

The Siesta Fiesta will provide a huge arts and crafts festival in the Siesta Key Village. This is one of the largest events of its type in the state and will provide plenty of amazing art on display.
