Sarasota Receives the Clean Air Award

Air quality is very si-highlight--primary and can become part of the decision making process of moving to a new area. Recently the Honeywell's "AirGenius Awards" were given out and the Sarasota-Bradenton area was name the third best area in the country for air quality. This was after a study of 100 cities and metro areas, which found South Florida to be the nation's best area for clean air after taking the three top spots.

The air quality is due to the great climate found in Sarasota, with an average temperature of 73 degrees year-round. This also lends well to the many outdoor activities including boating, golfing tennis and fishing, which help make Sarasota one of Florida's recreational capitals. Not only did the area receive a clean air award, but it was also named as "America's Best Small City" by Money magazine and the beach was recognized as the top beach in America in 2011.

Along with these awards, the city has been named as the top retirement destination by Top Retirement and one of the "Top Ten Moving Destinations" in the country, according to a survey done by Penske Truck Rentals. All these accolades are, in part, thanks to the great air quality and the climate. Of course, the barrier islands with over 35 miles of white-sand beaches play a factor, as well.

With all these accolade, it's easy to see why many relocate to Sarasota every year. The AirGenius Award just makes it more of a draw for those with breathing issues or health concerns. In addition, the city is home to many top hospitals and healthcare facilities. This wonderful beach community provides more than just sunshine with clean air, plenty to do and a great selection of homes perfect for retirees, new families and more.
