Private School Opens in Sarasota

The Selby School, located at 4405 DeSoto Road opened on September 16th. This school will serve disabled students in kindergarten and in grades nine through 12. The small class size and the ability to serve students needing help they cannot get at a traditional school is the best draw. Everything from reading to math and vocational training will be provided to help the students transition to an adult life.

Students can learn about cooking, working with tools, gardening and more. They can shadow professors and learn how to buy things they need without help.

42nd Annual Exhibition at the Art Center Opens

The Florida Watercolor Society opened the 42nd Annual exhibit with over one hundred watercolors from Florida artists on display. The exhibit will remain open until October 25th, giving residents plenty of time to come out to the Art Center Sarasota to enjoy the exhibit.

In addition, an opening reception will happen on September 20th from 5pm to 7pm at 707 North Tamiami Trail. The event is free to attend.
