Comparing Two Popular Relocation Destinations in Florida

Sarasota and Naples are two of the most popular destinations not only for visitors, but also for those relocating to the state. However, they are both very different. Comparing these two destination will help you see which may provide a better place for your next home.

Downtown

Sarasota has a better downtown and it's much larger than Naples downtown area. The downtown of Sarasota runs from US 301 all the way to Fruitville Road and out to Ringling Boulevard. Many unique restaurants, boutiques, art galleries and nightclubs are found in the downtown area.

Finding the Naples downtown can be a bit difficult because it's not really defined. Fifth Avenue is the most popular area and most like a main street. This area offers plenty of luxury stores and restaurants, but it's not the size of Sarasota's downtown.

Activities

Both cities provide plenty of outdoor activities from paddleboarding to golf and everything in between. However, Sarasota provides more sports because of Ed Smith Stadium and the close proximity to Tampa/St. Petersburg. Naples does provide more parks than Sarasota, though.

Beaches

Both cities provide beautiful white-sand beaches for those looking to bake in the sun all day long. However, the best beaches in the state are found in Sarasota. Open Lapping Sessions

If you just want to "arrive and drive”, choose one of the open lapping sessions. This will allow you to enjoy the Rock Karts and drive around the track. Before you hit the track, a driver expert will provide some of the basic elements of driving the karts including how to brake.

Open lapping sessions are $25 for 15 minutes with a $5 insurance/entry fee. You can test the karts all day long for $55 with your own kart. Age restrictions apply.

Sarasota Happenings in the Month of August

With August here, it's time to get out the calendar and choose the right events to attend. Many things are happening in the Sarasota area in August. Here are some of the top events to round out the month.

In The Round - August 2nd to August 4th

The Fusion dancers will perform and the New College of Florida black box theater. This is an intimate show with dialogue with the audience. Showtimes range depending on the day.

Meet the Sky - August 12th at 8pm

Van Wezel Friday Fest on the Bay - August 16th at 5pm

Impulse will play at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Center for this fun Friday Fest event. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the concert.

NRA First Steps Pistol Course - August 17t at 8am

If you've always wanted to learn about pistol safety, the NRA Certified Instructors will be on hand to teach according to the Florida Concealed Carry Permit requirements. This class will be held at the AmericInn Hotel Conference Room.

Whether you’re searching for a great foreign film or something you won't find in the main theaters, Burns Court may have what you're looking for.
