A Getaway in Your Own Backyard

One of the greatest benefits of living in Sarasota is the ability to getaway for a day or a weekend without going far. You don't have to hop on a plane or drive across multiple states to find something the entire family can enjoy for the day. Two specific areas provide plenty of great entertainment for a short trip. Here are a couple of day trips just up the road.


Tampa is just north of Sarasota and provides plenty of great things for everybody to enjoy. Whether you're looking for a great zoo to visit, a theme park or one of many other attractions you can find it in Tampa. Travel north and enjoy all of the following:

  • Museum of Science & Industry - With all kinds of displays and an IMAX dome theater, you can enjoy the world of science at the museum.


Of course, a trip to Orlando is a favorite for many with all the great attractions. As a resident of Sarasota, you can just head up the interstate and find yourself in Orlando in just a few hours. Here's what you'll find.

  • Disney World Resort - Including Epcot, Hollywood Studios, two water parks, Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, you'll find something for everyone at Disney.
  • LEGOLAND - Another great attraction for both adults and kids is LEGOLAND. This attraction provides a look at some of the most amazing things you can do with Legos and so much more.
  • Universal Studios - Teens and adults will love spending time at Universal. There's also plenty for kids with rides for both adults and kids.
